What to Bring on the Course

Showing up prepared separates professional caddies from casual ones. Having the right items on hand means you're ready for any situation without needing to leave the course.

Essential Caddy Kit

Build a small kit that you carry to every round:

• Rangefinder or GPS device: Many golfers have their own, but having a backup shows preparedness. Always confirm distances from multiple sources.
• Divot repair tool: Keep one in your pocket at all times. Fix your golfer's pitch marks and any others you walk past.
• Ball markers: Carry a few extras. Golfers lose these constantly.
• Pencil and yardage book/notepad: For tracking scores and making notes about the course.
• Sunscreen (SPF 30+): For yourself and to offer to your golfer.
• Chapstick with SPF: A small detail that golfers appreciate when they need it.
• Small first aid supplies: Band-aids and blister pads. Blisters happen.

Towels

Carry at least two towels:

• One damp towel for cleaning clubs after every shot.
• One dry towel for drying grips, hands, and balls.
• In wet conditions, carry a third towel and rotate them so you always have a dry one available.

Personal Items

• Water bottle: Stay hydrated. Refill at water stations on the course.
• Snacks: Pack lightweight, high-energy snacks that won't melt or crumble. Nuts, protein bars, and dried fruit work well.
• Hat and sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun. You'll be out there for 4-5 hours.
• Light rain jacket: Even if the forecast is clear, a packable rain shell takes up almost no space and can save the day.
• Extra socks: If your feet get wet, a fresh pair of socks at the turn can be a game-changer for comfort.

Know the Bag

Before the round starts, take inventory of your golfer's bag:

• Count the clubs (maximum 14 allowed).
• Note where each club sits so you can find them quickly.
• Check for extra balls, tees, and gloves.
• Locate the rain gear and umbrella.
• Identify any alignment aids, training devices, or personal items the golfer wants accessible.
